Some people love soft drinks and others are revolved by them. However, almost everyone has seen their commercials either way. The soft drink companies put out television and radio ads as well as billboards and sponsorships of sporting teams and events. Now, certain brands are turning to social media for their latest marketing campaigns.
The fizzy beverage that so many gamers love known as Mountain Dew is hoping to increase its sales performance by focusing on social media as a means of reaching out to a whole new group of people who may not currently be consuming their products.
Marketingdive.com brings the story to an article they recently posted detailing how Mountain Dew is reviving an old slogan of theirs to use in social media. The company had once used the slogan “Do the Dew” but had since allowed that slogan to lapse away in favor of others. Now, they are bringing it back to use today.
The rollout of their campaign is designed for use with mobile devices in the U.S. in particular at first. The company wants to promote its products on the Facebook and Twitter pages of popular skateboarders and other athletes that it believes its target market is interested in. They want the ads to appear along with audio so that the person going to view the page of that skateboarder will first see an ad for their soda.
Mountain Dew is making a play for the millennial market as they are the biggest supporters of this particular soda. The brand wants to be where those customers are, and that often means putting themselves on social media and just in a mobile format in general. The brand is well aware that a lot of millennials receive messages from their mobile phones before they get them anywhere else. Since this is the case, Mountain Dew wants to be among the first things that this group sees on mobile. If this strategy pans out, then it is entirely possible that Mountain Dew will make a big splash for itself in mobile marketing.
