Trabuco’s tenure as the head of marketing for Bradesco is notable in two ways. First, he modernized their communications when he established a relationship with the financial press for the first time in their history. This has increased the brand awareness of the company and helped increase their name recognition among consumers in Brazil. The second way that Trabuco’s leadership stood out was his accomplishment of one of the largest marketing campaigns in the bank’s history, which was the Christmas Tree of Lagoa, in Rio de Janeiro. The career of Luiz Carlos Trabuco really hit its stride when he was the President of Bradesco Seguros, which is the Insurance division of the company. He served here during the years of 2003-2009 and the performance gains that he was responsible for were outsized and made a significant contribution to the overall health and prosperity of the entire company. His time spent managing here gave him the inside track to be the successor to Márcio Cypriano, who was stepping down as their CEO.
In 2009 Trabuco was appointed to the CEO position during the difficult economic conditions that the entire world was gripped by. The Great Recession caused a global slowdown in financial activity and Bradesco was also faced with a decline in business opportunities. Trabuco brought them safely through this era and helped them renew core functions like organic growth and improved customer service.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco has helped Bradesco grow throughout his years of service as their CEO and organic growth is the primary vehicle that has accomplished this. The number of account holders has increased substantially since Trabuco came on board as their top leader and the figure is 7 million new accounts which are a 35% increase over the prior numbers.
There is one landmark acquisition that Trabuco engineered and that is the blockbuster deal in 2015 which saw Bradesco acquire the Brazilian branch of HSBC. This extraordinary deal took the financial world by surprise and it was the largest such transaction of the year. For his efforts, Trabuco was named as the Entrepreneur of the Year in Finance by Isto É Dinheiro Magazine.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco follows the tradition of prior top leaders at Bradesco and avoids ostentatious displays of wealth. He dresses in a conservative manner and works a full shift every day. During some evenings he will take a business dinner, with clients or associates to continue his important work.
