shortened wiki url
MattisManzel:
The easy-to remember web address for the carrotmob-wiki is:
The small gray link in the header image reminds you of it and takes you to the page shortened wiki url.
Else I’ve been adding the soup - group carrotmob-wiki, changes and included the feed it provides into the soup - carrotmob-wiki via feed.informer in order to chase the unrendered html text out of the posts ping.fm distributes for the carrotmob-wiki into various web services. I hope it works.

obviously no posting by email yet
Mattis Manzel:
I made the page post by email, MarkDilley tested it and received the answer from amplify:
Your email with the subject "Testing Oddmuse one big soup PostByEmail" failed to post...
Thanks, The Amplify Team
Obviously not it yet. Hm
I retried testing image inclusion and posting to selected services from several mail accounts of non admins of amplify - one big soup and I logged out of amplify before posting. Works all fine on the page net clips one big soup.

Möhrenpöbel, carrotmob multilingual, web-site list reworked
MattisManzel:
Jepp, Möhrenpöbel! Mit dem wunderbaren doppel ö drinnen. Dies ist eine um Längen bessere Übersetzung ins Deutsche, als Mohrrüben-Menschenauflauf oder so manch anderer Versuch. Möhrenpöbel, I love it.
I’d be interested in translations of the term carrotmob into more languages and started the page carrotmob multilingual.
edit this page up to the right. The home pages for the carrotmob web-sites on the web-site list have been reworked. Where there’s both a web-site and a twitter account the feeds have been merged. Before they were divided and you had to scroll down half the page to see current twitter activity.
The feeds for the included carrotmob web-sites and the twitter timelines have all been burned in the google feedburner account for the carrotmob-wiki. This is not necessarily required but it creates less load for the carrotmob-wiki and the kabo-wiki-hive. Don’t hesitate to use original feed uls when adding sites, I’ll burn them in time.
The 9carrots.org site looks interesting btw. I do not find a plain rss feed for it though to include into the local page NineCarrotsOrg (no numbers in CamelCase page titles in oddmuse). The easy-to-read title for the page is carrotmob-wiki - 9carrots.org.

over the limit
Mattis Manzel:
Ok, there are limits and I’m learning about them. I have been adding all kind of more or less useful feeds for months to the wikis in the kabo-wiki-hive in order to find out about the limits of feed aggregation in oddmuse. On the various “sub-wikis” (= name spaces) I recognized a moderate slow down that is still acceptable considering the various feed inclusions. “I’m getting closer to the limit.” I thought. Then, returning to care for the main wiki kabo-wiki-hive which I hadn’t touched for a while, I realized that I’m already far over the limit. Feeds for the main wiki can’t be burned in feedburner anymore (feed validator says time out) and it is awfully slow.
I’m going to deactivate high traffic feeds on the kabo-wikis: blog-, video-, friends-xxx-wiki-feeds to see if the main wiki returns to normal speed.
Started with what hurts most: the one big xxx pages in the whoRthey-wiki. To see if there’s any effect. I’m not sure if there is.

recently on irc #oddmuse
mattis^: added feeds like mad these months, maybe hit the ceiling?
samrose: I think so
mattis^: puts on a helmet
later:
samrose: someday there may be a new way to do this rss stuff that works with oddmuse, remove the parsing from oddmuse engine
mattis^: sounds good, useful, globally collaborative

yahoo - meme whoRthey-wiki
Mattis Manzel:
Adding the yahoo - meme whoRthey-wiki included into the page yahoo meme whoRthey-wiki instead of caring for the current posts-in-html-problem. No good.

tag MultiLingual not a good idea, well
Mattis Manzel:
The tag MultiLingual I applied on various of the queries in the multilingual-wiki proved not to be a good idea as it’s soaked with spam for software. Refining the queries by excluding for example download, installation, warez or similar is (partly) possible but in case of the tag MultiLingual I fear it’s pretty hopeless. It was a nice étude nevertheless. Next time I’ll check before. This time I didn’t. Well. :)

translating text on multilingual wiki pages and a center-wiki for multilingual web-sites
Mattis Manzel:
The multilingual experiment - translating text on multilingual wiki pages with checkboxes to display selected languages only - is one thing. Another is a center-wiki for multilingual web-sites. I’d like to try both in the multilingual-wiki.
I changed the wiki idea accordingly.

more tech testing
MattisManzel:
Changed the title of the friendfeed - group carrotmob-wiki changes. Removed the feedburner to twitter and the twitter to google buzz triggering. Activated ping.fm to both twitter and google buzz triggering. This is a post to test how the results look like.

twingly - channel carrotmob
MattisManzel:
Twingly introduced channels. The user account twingly - carrotmob-wiki is subscribed to the twingly - channel carrotmob. The twingly channel includes the soup of the carrotmob-wiki and µblogging messages tagged #CarrotMob. There is no feed for the twingly channel and consequently no page twingly channel carrotmob in the carrotmob-wiki.

multiple bricolage
MattisManzel:
Multiple bricolage in the carrotmob-wiki - you might not find all of it useful (nor do I). You might find some of it useful though.
Unfortunately the “test and discussion” wiki called 'wiki-net'? in the odd-wiki-hive? as well as some dozens of more wikis sitting in this hive have to be moved to a new server before fully functionally again. Consequently I have to experiment in “topical” wikis like the carrotmob-wiki. Sorry about that.
This post is to figure out if twitterlive forwards messages to different posting groups in ping.fm.
Currently the only method that forwards into ping.fm is blog and that again forwards only into facebook and google buzz. The rest stays silent. That is not it yet.

twitterlive
MattisManzel:
The service twitterfeed dropped out several month ago. I’m giving a try to twitterlive now hoping to get back ping.fm - the “wiki-net ignition dispenser” - to update.
By the way, whether carrotmob is still hot or not is without any importantance. The idea is simply good. :)

blog posts and videos about Greenland are part of the page Greenland complete
Mattis Manzel:
I made the pages blogs Greenland and videos Greenland and included the feeds into the page Greenland complete. Yes it is pretty “noisy”, every Mr. Greenland, every Greenland avenue is treated as the world’s biggest island, true. But there is some about real Greenland to discover amongst. Refining the search queries eventually improves the quality of results. Didn’t try that yet.

search exclusions
Mattis Manzel:
I’m trying to exclude “NH”, “NewHampshire” and a spammed domain from the query friendfeed - with Greenland. Seems to help.
I’m also trying to let the Mµs with Greenland contain only Mµs with the word Greenland in the text but excluding Mµs tagged #Greenland.

Greenland is not an rss-feed free island
Mattis Manzel:
I’ve not been really searching thoroughly - too much to do in the wiki-net - but I never found any feed from Greenland. The island appeared to be rss-feed free. The Greenlandic broadcasting corporation knr.gl provides a news feed in Greenlandic and in Danish included into their home page in the Greenland-wiki KNR.gl. Voilà!
If you know about other Greenland related feeds probably worth an inclusion drop a link in the talk, please.
