I made the pages blogs Greenland and videos Greenland and included the feeds into the page Greenland-wiki complete. Yes, it is pretty “noisy”. Every Mr. Greenland, every Greenland Avenue is treated as the world’s biggest island, true. But there is some about real Greenland to discover amongst. Refining the search queries eventually improves the quality of results. Didn’t try that yet.

search exclusions

I’m trying to exclude “NH”, “NewHampshire” and a spammed domain from the query friendfeed - with Greenland. Seems to help.

I’m also trying to let the Mµs with Greenland contain only Mµs with the word Greenland in the text but excluding Mµs tagged #Greenland.

Greenland is not an rss-feed free island

I’ve not been really searching thoroughly - too much to do in the wiki-net - but I never found any feed from Greenland. The island appeared to be rss-feed free. The Greenlandic broadcasting corporation knr.gl provides a news feed in Greenlandic and in Danish included into their home page in the Greenland-wiki KNR.gl. Voilà!

If you know about other Greenland related feeds probably worth an inclusion drop a link in the talk, please.

trying twitterlive.net

The connection from twitterfeed to ping.fm stopped working by end of April which is about a month ago. I’m now giving a try to twitterlive.net. It updates but ugly html arrives on facebook, on friendfeed and others instead of readable text. Using twitterfeed it had been readabe. Hm, not sure yet.

Greenland ting

Mattis Manzel:
The page [MeetingWords - Greenland ting]? runs the EtherPad collab-editor software. It synchronizes in real-time. You type something and everybody connected to the page sees it immediately. Everybody can correct you immediately, you see the corrections immediately. It’s fun, try it out.

Tings have been the council gathering of the Vikings. There might even have been ting sites located in southern Greenland during the medieval Viking settlings. Dunno [1]. Modern time tings take place in the internet.

Topic proposals are welcome for tings but they often do follow their own dynamics. See it as a writing jam-session that is copied to a wiki page soon afterwards. A short summary of the ting tells about it on the respective day-page [Greenland ting]? and links to the full text archive page of the ting in the Greenland-wiki. The MeetingWords page is cleared for the next ting.

It does work on four wikis in the odd-wiki-hive, not here though. Maybe we’ll have to wait for kabo-wiki to be updated. It is not quite the recent version of Oddmuse currently. I’ve got to try on another kabo-wiki.

The wiki-complete-feed is included into the page wiki complete.
The wiki-complete-feed, atom has similar contents, does not include into Oddmuse but works with many other services, e.a. friendfeed.com.

By the way: Congratulations for the independence, Greenland. You’ll have some nice midsummer night fires, I assume.

Check google - reader Greenland-wiki. It includes the Mµs tag Greenland and the net clips Greenland. The feed doesn’t include into Oddmuse but there is a widget.

Tasiilaq

Short explanation on what I did. I added Tasiilaq to the page Greenland. I added Tasiilaq, Greenland-wiki - Tasiilaq and kabo-wiki-hive - Greenland-wiki - Tasiilaq to the page local names. It takes an hour or two (or three) until it has gone through the cache and then you can link to the page Tasiilaq in any wiki in the whole big wiki-net by writing [[Tasiilaq]].

Agreed, in this case. So the Greenland-wiki is the choice, I deleted the Grønland-wiki stub on GroenLand:FrontPage to evite confusions.

When you sign with CarlErik it links to your home page in the wiki.

Hey, CarlErik. Thanks for tying out. Probably of help is the oddmuse handbook - but I understand only a minor part of the pretty complex materia myself. It’s well written though. The user documentation is best for you.

l8er: I applied the css, kind of a “dress” moving buttons to different places, adding some pictures and such. The wiki is basically still what you saw before, just not “naked” anymore. ;) You can fit to different screen sizes using ctr + “+” or ctr + “-” btw.

Hm, as stated on Community:BigBucketsFirst, well, for Grønland we’ll probably find two or three who help in the wiki, excluding West-Grønland it might be one less, which is fatal.

Greenland in English might be the far better choice, dunno. Sure I like the “ø” letter but tell me, GreenLand in the url in the address bar and Greenland-wiki as an actual title. Is it more neutral? All Greenlanders should be able to like it, know? I should restart it then, no prob, 15 min of work now (more if we decide to do it later).

Can I take one of your landscape pics on facebook and excerpt a foto for the header of this wiki from it? It will have a cc-license including the foto, if you don’t oppose.

k, Greenland-wiki. Pretty much everybody speaks English up there, I suppose. I’m uncertain which one I like better actually.
