If you use a lot of social media in your business, you don’t want to just follow the latest trends or come up with an off-the-wall idea without actually knowing you’ve taken up a strategy that actually works. That’s why Forbes has recently put out tips on how to make sure you’ve built just the right social media marketing format. Their main goal in putting these tips together is because social media marketing and sales results can sometimes be hard to gauge.
Forbes says you should be looking at the areas of traffic, followers, sales volumes and visibility in general to see how much your current social media strategy has done. While every part of these aspects is important, there are a few distractions they say you should beware of when looking at them. First, Forbes says you shouldn’t just take followers numbers as meaning that your followers are actively making purchases. And second, they say while traffic and impressions certainly are important, they still could mean few sales conversions.
What Forbes says you should focus on is not just your bottom line revenue, but look at what your visitors are doing as far as making posts, giving your social media pages likes and actually telling their friends about what your company is about. You should also look at what their doing on your business site itself between which pages are getting the most interest and which products they’re buying. In summary, you have to really look at activity versus raw stats and numbers when trying to gauge your social media marketing investment.
